Self-righteousness and God's-righteousness :
19Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God;
20because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
Justification by Faith: God's righteousness
21But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
22even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
25whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;
26for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
27Where then is boasting? It is excluded By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.
28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.
Comes only through the redemptive work of Lord Jesus Christ at the cross,
as a free gift, to be believed and received by faith in the finished work of Jesus only.
A believer who lives by this righteousness, CAN NOT BYPASS THE CROSS to receive
Any good thing from God..the promises. (James 1:17, Deuteronomy 28:3-13)
God makes ALL things good or bad to work together for the believer's good only.(Rom 8:29)
There is no boasting on the part of the believer for the good things happening in His/Her life,
as everything comes by Grace through the CROSS ONLY.
(1 Corinthians 1:16-31)
Here Jesus is glorified in all and God is given the due credit each time.(John 16:14)
There is an eternal protection of angels, the blood of Jesus and the covenant faithfulness of God,
guidance by the Holy Spirit and the peace of God., even if the believer misses it.
(1 John 2:1-2, Hebrews 1:14, 10:23, Rom 8:14, Col 3:15)
Here there WILL be persecution from the world, the people, no credit given from them,
There could be rejection from the people around. (2 Timothy 3:12)
But well..this person is so blessed by God, that other people envy him/her. (James 1:25)
Self-righteousness, walking in the flesh, not depending on the Cross of Jesus Christ:
Here, a person doesn't acknowledge the CROSS, but relies on his/her own performance of
sowing and reaping, blessing for obedience, cursing for disobedience.
Here, the CROSS and its blessings are ineffective and hence this person is not in Grace.
This person takes credit for all the good things in His/Her life, as He/She EARNED it,
apart from the Cross, so , THERE IS BOASTING. (Romans 4:4)
There is, recognition from the world for achievement. He/She could be a celebrity, always in the limelight ! (Rom 2:29, Luke 4:5,6)
But when the success sets in, this person becomes careless and the moment he/she misses it,
Satan comes to execute His Judgement or collect his payment.
This is a very slipper ground, as Satan is a master deceiver. (John 8:44)
21On an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took his seat on the rostrum and began delivering an address to them.
22The people kept crying out, "The voice of a god and not of a man!"
23And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.
24But the word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied.
Each person has to choose, looking at the trade-off's that each righteousness offers.
As for me, I have received the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus's successful work of redemption at the CROSS only.
I have NOTHING to boast, except in the work and Blood of Jesus.
What about you?

Be blessed in Jesus's name.
